London Fashion Week: Cut Above The Rest

That all important, all consuming, all about ‘who wore what’ week is looming. I spy London Fashion Week on the haute couture horizon. And, calm self!

Whether you’ll be gunning for front row seats or soaking up the catwalk style from insider updates and online streams, guaranteed you’re already deliberating on a fabulous have-to-stop-and-stare outfit. So first off let’s look back on what whimsical wears celebrity guests championed last year.

A gal needs a few fool-proof, fall-proof, fail-proof items to complete a fearless ensemble. Here’s what I’d suggest for winging it with every inch of wow factor:

1.       1. Top down: spring/ summer 2013 looks like it’s all about the up-do but until we know the score let’s loosen up with un-kept, tousled locks.

2.      2.  Do It Like A Nude: use subtle products that enhance YOUR complexion, gentle bronzes, lip mists and highlighters will give you a natural confidence. Look out pro @WendyRowe

3.      3.  Suits You Best: stay on trend with a look that you can dramatise in your own way. Team up a trouser suit with a clashing shirt; this doesn’t have to be O.T.T smart so experiment with a funky tee under the jacket, a loosened tie or some braces.

4.       4 Cool Runnings: footwear ladies! Now you either add inches to your look with a chunky soled heel or if you’re loving leather like us then boot up, but go ankle length and mix it up with pony skin. Failing that, loafers are ten to the dozen: sequins and beads and patent oh my!

5.       5. Bag Your Own: whether you can splurge a month’s wage on the latest MaxMara, YSL tote, Harriet Mulberry or not we say go arm-in-arm with what YOU love. It bag or vintage second-hand slash hand me down.

Real McCoy Doctor bags are flaring up all over the shot, so look into your local charity or vintage shops for a classic of your own to dust off and pull off. There you have it (french accent!!) 5 tips for your LFW dress up this September.
