Mixing In Mulberry

Caramel, cappuccino, apricot, peppermint and cream...uh oh gelato! Not quite NO, this was the mouth watering palette of choice for Emma Hill's S/S 2013 Mulberry collection. Take me to the Mulberry garden! Themed to a tee as the quintessential English garden, Tuesday's catwalk show was fresh, lush and left us longing for next summer.
 

Block colour, bold statement pieces: coats, jackets, trews were all flaunted alongside fabulous floral print dresses, shorts and shirts. And let's not go forgetting the luxe leather bags that were TOTE-ally stunning. Mulberry: a trade mark, household name that we all chant adoringly. What I wouldn't give to be clutching, truly, madly, deeply onto one (or all) of those beauties.

I'd walk beyond the garden path in these textured pieces: the oversized coats, the metallic print jackets, soft pleated skirts, pajama pants. All of which wowed with sun-kissed, nude complexions and loosely pinned back locks. Sweet, soft buns (that is hair do's not derrières or pastries) sweeping fringes and soft tousled ponies. While we're on fro's, it'd be rude not to mention the FROW celebs that perched eagerly catwalk side: Lana Del Rey, Kate Moss and Alexa Chung.

This collection was a fabulous way to round up the shows this LFW and Mulberry did not fail to make fabulous. I'm not partial to poodle but the rest was pure pastel pleasure, take a look: garlands a gooden...

 

Whatta Lotta Pilotto

Christopher De Vos and Peter Pilotto HAVE texture and it's out of this world. Tailored, stunning pieces revealed sharp sophisticated looks that cut on the knee and off the shoulder. This is elegance, this is Pilotto s/s 2013! The dynamic collection is jaw dropping, a feast for the eyes- I am literally blinkered by the array of lace, embellishment, bodices, Eastern prints and sexy shirts that say... ‘HAVE ME, HAVE ME NOW’!

There's ruffle, there's layers, there's peplum, there's poufs and whistles. OH MY...GOD!! *Heart palpitations. I cannot take it all in. I have watched and re-watched, drooled and whooped Pilotto's catwalk show. Encore indeed! There is no limit to the digital pattern and print that has been designed for ladies what like it LOUD. I am literally salivating (style slobber over this clobber) over every piece, shove the colour swatch and mix in it all. All panels, prints, pleats, it's a blooming montage of three-dimensional FABULOUS-ness. And I am watching again...

 

NEWGEN: The London Fashion Games 2013

 Yes we’ve all been hollering Team GB for a fortnight of unbelievable achievement across the country. Thank goodness for the SUPER human Paralympics to come and thank fashion runway for the subsequent LFW to see us through in SUPER style. We’ve already had a cameo flash of red, white and blue kit from home-grown fashion designer Stella McCartney. Then we saw the Olympic stadium turn runway for a sequinned squad of British supermodels for the closing ceremony. Solid gold!

So in light of GB’s new generation of inspiring athletes I'm paying trib to the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN scheme for rising fashion talents. Thirteen thrifty designers were awarded NEWGEN sponsorship for their s/s 2013 collections and I'm looking at the three who will showcase on the catwalk.

Heavyweights flexing some serious make-you-look items are J.W Anderson, Michael van der Ham and Simone Rocha. Each designer has certainly earned their stripes for dedicating themselves to fashion innovation and multidimensional design.

J.W Anderson is our man about woman about man, that’s right his androgynous trademark is right on trend and we can’t wait to see what sharp, sexy pieces he reveals. A sneaky peek says it’s far from ordinary. 

For van der Ham it’s previously been about bold clashing and knit collaborations so let’s see how he dramatises this for next s/ s. Multi textures and fabrics are all up in this Dutch man's groove and I'd love to see more elaborate print and sexy cuts like the below, next summer its all about mid-drift baby!

 And then there’s Simone Rocha who will undoubtedly schmooze us with extensions of her distinctive modern romantic style.This lady loves a-line, statement tailoring that has a contemporary adroynous feel. Incorporating PVC, lace and leather makes her collections edgy and haaaaaawt! Clearly she's inherited a whole lotta fashion va va voom from papa bear John Rocha. #GirlCrush !!

Trans-gendered Tran-seasonal Street Wear

Androgynous is my middle name. Okay it’s actually double barrelled Daisy-May, but that whole androgyny look is my entire wardrobe. I think, as with most things in life, it’s about balance. So I will often team up brown Chelsea boots, khaki jodhpurs, a classic silk shirt and tailored jacket. I have never been one to pull off a floral, floaty number but doing so with a smidge (or smudge) of men’s attire makes me feel far more at ease. Plus it makes dressing for a typical British summer fool proof!

The look appears effortless, yet you can really wow out some quirky, cool outfits that keep all eyes on you. For example, working patent brogues with cropped trousers, an oversized tunic, minimal make up and red lippy to give MAXIMUM IMPACT. My latest look: white summer dress with ruched bottom, leather leggings and high tops makes me feel untouchable, trendy and smart.

Layer it on me. Yes I’m about layers, and lucky for you if you’re partial too because this autumn/ winter season we’re sure to see the runway roll out some killer trends that will hone in on embellished jackets, bright knits, capes, leathers, gothic waist-cinched dresses and oriental, baroque prints. Layered lavishly together to stir up and rally up us street folk into true fashion frenzy. 

 All summer long we’ve been big on block colour and loud print, and whilst you may not carry those pineapple skinnies through to the autumn you can bet your bottom dollar that BIG, LOUD, HEAVY EMBELLISHMENT will all be hot to trot.
